Try "Now That" vs "If Then"
Looking to invest in a team’s intrinsic motivation? The next time something good happens that doesn’t normally warrant a reward, reward it and turn it into a “Now that” reward. An “If then” reward on the other hand, is something already set up to be incentivized. If you do this, you will receive this. “Now That” rewards, kick start intrinsic motivation because it was not expected.
